Getting on that proper Roti Style! Here's Leela's Roti & Doubles! This place stirs up more than just fresh & spicy menu, I've been hearing enough good things about leela's for sometime now, and considering I skipped on the Roti back when I visited Roti Vybz, I figured my Roti ride was well due. The menu to me was a bit foreign, considering I thought "Doubles" was just a term they used to emphasize their portions at Leela's. I ordered the Double with their Chicken. (A bready bundle filled with spicies, chickpeas and chicken). It was really tasty, but very messy and difficult to eat. They threw in huge chunks of chicken into this small little package. Its integrity as a unit stood no chance. Luckily I didn't mind picking up the bits of chickpeas and chicken off my takeout paper case the flavor was so good and the chicken was so tender. Honestly tho, it sucks that these doubles costed me 5-7 dollars (Meat is extra), I polished it off in 4 bites. Taste was on point, but portion to cost was way off here... As for their Roti, I got the Curried Goat Roti, (A top seller there), I don't know why the doubles are so pricey, yet so small, cause the Roti was HUGE! It was definitely Beast and Feast approved! The wrap itself was like a Naan bread that is more elastic (for wrapping purposes), it was filled with a generous portion of meat, and the Goat was very tender. It tasted like chicken, but its texture and fat content was more similar to lean chunks of beef. The wrap costed about 8-9$ which is reasonable in my opinion for a wrap of that size and flavor. I didn't get any additional spice in my Roti, but the lady was nice enough to put some sauces on the side. Th
eir hot sauce is pretty damn hot, big burn IMO, definitely scotch bonnets up on in there. The other sauce she gave me was much milder, and tasted phenomenal! It was a mango Chutney, and it paired with the Roti perfectly! I'll defiantly ask for more of that if I ever go back. Its a heavy meal let me tell you, definitely something your gonna want to eat and than go sit down and do nothing for a couple hours. They also serve their meat items with Rice and Peas but I wasn't digging that. Roti Vybz sold me on their Rice and Beans dish. So i'll go there if I ever want Caribbean food with a rice starch.
Overall the meal was delicious, filling, satisfying, very flavorful, spicy, unique.
