If I find myself in Toronto, I make sure I'm taking advantage of the rare opportunity. Split between Fancy Franks or Banh Mi boyz, I was in the mood for something convenient and quick, but I was also more determined to check off another YGEH location! So Banh Mi Boyz it was! Banh mi is a Vietnamese term for "All kinds of Bread", which I didn't realize at the time. I figured Banh Mi was a Vietnamese style of sandwich. I suppose I wasn't too far off tho, since any great sandwich starts with good bread! The bread may seem heavy but it is actually very soft and light. It acts like a cloud that transitions you into a soft bite that won't cause you to break your teeth but has a good texture that gives you the right amount of chew. The sandwich I ordered was their Kalbi Beef (Asking for their best seller) and it was delicious! The beef was perfectly tender and was bursting with sticky, sweet, and sour flavor! The sandwich contained many other Korean specialties like Kimchi and cooked lemons! There was satisfying crunch biting into the cucumber and carrots, and such an orchestra of flavor in each bite! This sandwich was fairly priced @ 6.99$, but its so cheap because they don't really pack the sandwich with much protein. It's enough to taste it but you can definitely tell the protein portion is a little underwhelming. Where it lacks in meat its backup up by authentic flavor, and I didn't even mind the shy servings of meat. The sandwich still felt complete and opened my mind to some truly amazing favors! I debated on getting the Steamed Boa, but when I saw the price (3.49$) It was no longer up for debate. I never expected it to be so big tho, I know people who could eat this and be satisfied and full! Not me....but you know...normal people. I got the Pork Belly Boa and yeah it was righteous! The Boa was crazy soft. It looks and feels like dough, but this pillowy pocket is completely cooked and cradles the other flavors joining it when you take a bite. The pork belly is not like bacon, its something very much on its own surprisingly. Not overly salted, nor is it crisp. Its tender, sweet and fatty. But you don't feel like your eating gristle. With the Boa veg and those signature Korean flavors inside, the little-wich was oh so perfect! For the value and the taste, this place was just a great experience! A fountain of flavor and a wallet worthy!
