Ox Tails and Roti are great, but when it comes to Caribbean food, you know its all about that Jerk Chicken tho! Here we are at Mr. Bigs, quite under the radar for reviews but definitely enough approval from locals to convince me this place was good enough to get my jerk on! It's not even listed in Insaugas TOP 5 Jerk chicken locations, and that baffles me! The jerk chicken here was divine! Blackened but not burnt, all that dark color is just contrasting the concentrated flavor that chicken is harnessing. All dark meet here, thighs and legs. No breasts on this platter, they keep it rated PG, but that dark meat was nothing but sensational succulent chicken, which quickly turns this meal into something minors shouldn't watch when you eat it. Tasty chicken that literally just gives up on holding itself to the bone. i try taking a nipple, and all the meat pulls off leaving the bone clean! I'll quote myself after I took my first bite; ..."Holy shit". Couldn't explain my amazement better. The rice was peaking in the takeout container. They don't mess around for value here, there was a lot of food just for a medium, and very reasonably priced also. The rice had a lot of jerk sauce on it from the chicken which was really good, but there wasn't many beans included in the rice mixture, and besides the jerk sauce the rice was missing on better flavor. (Roti Vybz killed it with its rice and beans!) The coleslaw on the side was very complimentary to the spiciness of the dish, however I wish I had a little more or at least didn't eat most of it at the start because it would have helped cool my mouth down from the spice. I also ordered a Small Porridge too. AS small was just over 3$ and was a very generous portion. You really won't ever need anything bigger than a small. It sticks to your ribs, and is a great dessert that will fill up even the hungriest nommers. Its creamy and perfectly sweet, with tons of cinnamon. It also has some mais balls in it too I believe (something like little dumplings in the porridge). They provided texture to the sweet concoction. It was so warming and comforting, a very pleasant finish to the meal. Honestly, this place needs to get more attention cause it was great! Cheap, delicious, and flavorful. There's something for everyone there! I only want to go back and try there Oxtail. I can only imagine how tender that is based off their Jerk Chicken!
