A place that has been patiently put to the side for too long has final been justified! Tania De Jesus Barbosa, I salute your salivatory savvy with recommeneding Old School. It held up to your uproar and "Aced" my expectations. Old School was a refreshing change to the restaurant dining experience with their retro style interior and there comfort food menu items with a twist. Ranging from pulled pork, chicken and waffles, and there infamous blueberry griddles...there menu is certainly kicking it. (Enough with the puns, Onto the food!) The three hour bike-ride set-forth to Old School rationalized an extra (unplanned) side of mac&cheese was added to the meal. When it comes to food, no sacrifice is too great. I was set on ordering the Blueberry Griddles with Butchers Crack. The Butchers crack is simply candied bacon, but the flavor notes are far from simply. Its perfect pairing of sweet and salty with pillow pilled pancakes that were sweet as they were fluffy. The compote onto was enough to serve as the "syrup" for the stacks despite them giving a side of maple syrup as well that we left untouched. The pancakes were simply phenomenal, so much so that I would choose these over the vast variety of pancakes from IHOP any day! We also ordered the special that day, which was a steak schnitzel and a twice baked potato with green beans. The schnitzel had the most incredible crust on it, even after the amble time spent catching up with my sister the steak kept its crispy outer shell and tender center despite the gravy that cloaked it all that time. The meat wasn't beaten down paper thIin either. It still had a thickness to it that prevented the meat from drying out ion the cooking processes. It was fried to perfection and it only made me more confident in all their other "fried" items on the menu (I.e Chicken and Waffles, Fried Chicken Sandwich). If they can do a Schnitzel as good as that, I could only imagine what other fried menu magic they serve. The Mac and Cheese was great, but actually not as good as the other menu items. Don't get me wrong, Elbow Macaroni basking in cheese and topped with crunchy buttermilk biscuit croutons will taste good to even the choosiest cheesy mac mouth's, but I have had better! Maybe it just wasn't enough cheese, and sometimes that's a hard thing to protest when it comes to mac and cheese. But the absence of any photo-worthy cheese pull is enough to make my claims that their mac and cheese just was't cheesy enough for me! Still. Cannot go wrong ordering it. The pasta was cooked al-dente even being made in a cast-iron skillet. This gave it texture and chew you wouldn't come across from dried pasta and powdered cheese. The food was fantastic. And the service even blew me away too. Something that really stands out to me at any restaurant is when the chef himself comes out and delivers the food to your table. It says a lot about the company and the pride the chefs take in their food. We were indulged with the service and the food!

Pros:

The Food! Pancakes we're the MVP but everything was great! Staff service. Chef coming out and saying hello.

Cons:

Didn't get to try enough of the menu
