Pizza Nostra is a perfect example of everything happening for a reason. Warning! Story time ahead! Skip to the next paragraph if you want to just get straight to the food. On a late night weekday food run, the crew and I were out on Lakeshore looking to grab some food at Captain Robins Family Restaurant (Originally Three Stooges). However, when we arrived there just as they closed we figured we were S.O.L with hitting up a review-able food joint. Instead my friend suggested a pizza place up the street. Sure! It’s as good as things will get for us on a Thursday night I figured. We walk into the place to find the owner doing something you really don’t find many other places. He was talking. He was doing his thing making the pizza’s and all, but all while he did he was talking to the customers. The lot of them, all engaging in conversation like they were family. The owner greeted us and asked us what we wanted to order. I explained it was my first time at the location and asked him what he recommended. All at once the customers chime in and start listing off items. It was from that moment of customer respect that I knew we were in for some good pizza.

We were told that the Canadian Pizza is one of the best. Which at first didn’t seem very enticing, until it was mentioned that real maple syrup is drizzled over the pizza. That was a game changer! We go along with the fan favorite and order another with cheese, onions and chicken on it. The 14-inch Canadian costed 22$ and only costed 2$ more for a 16 in. These prices may seem a little more expensive than your average pizza joints, but that's what you get for "average pizza". Pizza Nostra is serving up the cultural crust and cravings of New York style za right in the GTA. Worth every Penny!

The owner’s personality stood out to me also. He talked and laughed with his customers as we waited just as if they were his dear chumps. He clearly delivers a good attitude with the people he serves, and I believe that that truly does carry over to the food as well. This was absolutely the case. The pizza was huge in size! The asymmetrical shape of the pizza brings an authentic appeal to the eyes that prepares your mouth for a tasty bona-fide slice. The layers to the pizza were thin, crust, sauce and cheese but everything was to the perfect ratio. The crust torn with ease, but still held a chew as you masticated the rich flavors.

Despite being thin, the pizza had all kinds of depth in its flavors. Long salty strips of bacon and sweet maple syrup to unify the sweet and salty combo. Acid of the tomato sauce cutting through just enough and the cheese being the real super-food as usual. Salivary jets just shoot off in your mouth as each molecular morsel was seducing your taste-buds. Even the more content cheese, chicken and onion pizza tasted terrific. I don't know how the owner did it, but succulence was built into this pizza’s DNA!

The pizza was just simply fantastic. Nothing like I’ve ever had before and rightfully so. Pizza Nostra is sharing the success of the New York style pizza to the gentle mouths of Mississauga, and it is winning the people over!
