Glazed with glamour and decadently decorated, these donuts are far from your average assortment from Tim Hortons. Daddy O’s brings a fresh approach to Mississauga’s donut distribution, giving fried dough a gourmet style. Fresh and innovative creations like Ferrero-Rocher and the Deep Fried Mars Bar donuts, along with iconic novelties like the Elvis and the Homer Simpson donut have been giving Daddy O’s massive exposure that usually involves them selling out well before 10pm (their scheduled close). You’d be a fool to think rolling in at 9pm is going to offer you anything close to their vast selection of confectionery goods; if there are even any left that is.

The shop is a little peculiar located in the area, in a quite residential area just off the highway. Their little shop holds a graceful interior with sensitive tone that surprises you with their profligate pastries. The final touch to this British Bake Shop was the delightfully dolled up server behind the counter, who radiated a smile as sweet as her strudel. Enough has been said about the shop, we still have donuts to review!

The overall quality of the donuts was spectacular. Thick and tall in their presentation. The dough was soft as you would bite down but remain stable for the chew. Melting in your mouth in the process. The authenticity was an experience in its own. Until daddy O’s Mississauga’s donut line was unornamented. The odd promotional donut at Tim Hortons would foment a foodies desire for the product, but it was never long enough. And even though Krispy Kreme has remarkable reign in the donut deliberation, the new kid on the block always strikes interest.

There is now more donut excitement than ever in Mississauga and its starting at Daddy’Os. Let’s list these off:

The Homer Simpson. Certainly a tasty token. Visually, very appealing. Half the thrill of eating it is the novelty. It had a similar Krispy Kreme taste and texture to it, melting almost instantly upon salvitory docking. It had a very superficial vanilla flavor. Very sweet tasting, but the thickness of the donut could help carry it out.

The Elvis. This donut has a lot going on with the banana, chocolate and peanut butter, but too me it had a dominant banana flavor. Banana chips on top was a nice textural tone and a mild chocolate accent that was more for the credible aesthetics of the donut. The peanut butter gave the donut more of a roasted nut flavor rather than a distinct peanut butter profile. Banana based donut with a hint of nuts and coco is more so my break down of the donut, but non the less the combination of flavors makes this a dangerous donut (Waring. May have trouble just eating one)

Cardamom Sugar. A very simple donut, but yet still complex in its flavor. Perfect for people that don’t like over the top donuts or extremely sweet items. The sugary coat is balanced with the cardamom spice, and the donut itself is buttery and light.

Ferrero. A Nutella bomb! A dense donut with the entire external surface covered in hazelnuts. Great texture on the outside with a generous Nutella core. Most “Chocolatey” donut on their menu.

Coconut. CocoNUTS! This donut is all things coconut. A coconut based dough, covering in a thin coconut icing and showered with coconut flakes. Not overly powerful in coconut flavor despite all the coconut elements on it. This donut will charm any coconut lover!

Maple Bacon. Quite possibly my favourite of the dozen! Arguably the derivation of “Salty & Sweet”, this donut hits all notes. Authentic maple flavor and thick but bacon cuts all carried out on a soft bountiful donut.

Deep Fried Mars/Oreo. These are probably Daddy O’s most iconic creation. Usually this option rotates with its candy contents. The “Deep Fried Donut” has been modeled with Mars bars, Reese Cups and Oreo’s so far. But given the concept, I can only imagine they will continue to conform the item with endless possibilities. The donut is big, like a dough zeppelin. The outside topped with Mars/Oreo’s as well as the product filled on the inside as well. It would only be better if the inside had a cream as its filling instead. Because the outside is already decorated with the dainty I was less excited when I discovered the insides were filled with the same. Regardless, it was still very, very good! And still nothing like it anywhere else in the area!

The donuts were fantastic, and truly a treat! Donut wait around any longer waiting for a time to go try these yourself. The best thing is that although they have a very habitual menu, they have fresh new ideas each week! You’ll find something new every time you walk in.

Pros:

The variety of their donuts

The innovation creations

Cons:

None what so ever.
