The name could not speak more true to the product! Just when you think the execution of ice cream could not be continue to be innovated, you come across Wow Wow Yum Yum. A ice cream stop hidden within the Rockwood Mall that is standing out for its Thai style ice cream. You can get scooped and soft served almost anywhere now and days, but this is the ONLY place to get your ice cream rolled in Mississauga.
The presentation of ice cream has adapted in its allurement over the years through decorative methods. Dipped, dressed and dazzled. The toppings game has evolved in aesthetic amplitudes. Its hard to even remember the era, where sprinkles were the mere additional garnish to glamorize a sweet cold treat. It seemed that the modern evolution of ice cream was dependent on its toppings....However, it turns out ice cream can be more than scooped or dispensed, since “stir fried” is one of the newest ice cream trends, and Wow Wow Yum Yum is the only one in Mississauga making it accessible to sauga foodies.
Stir fried ice cream, also known as Thai ice cream or more simply, “Ice cream rolls”, gives you the freshest ice cream you can be served around there. Made to order right in front of you, you get to see the cream cylinders be rolled out right in front of you, and seconds later your enjoying the smooth, luscious treat. Anything that is prepared in front of us arguably makes it better already, but even the quality of the ice cream is unique, and is as distinct as the prosses that which is is prepared.
The ice cream is creamier than others. It doesn’t immediately start to melt away in your mouth like ice. It’s smooth and subtle in its breakdown. The ice cream rolls melt on your mouth like a time laps. The flavor of it is sweet and emphasized with on a sweet cream profile. You can choose from a variety of flavors; a long line of fruit related items like kiwi, berries, banana ect, along with cookies, KitKat, matcha, taro, avocado, and even cheese! I went with a solid favourite of mine (Oreo and cookie) but I’d return to try there strawberry and cheese ice cream rolls. Something very distinct about these ice cream rools is that they hold up in their integrity. Down to the very last spoonful, the ice cream was still solid. A little melted in the process (naturally) but overall 98% of the ice cream was held together and not materialized into soup by the end.
With the ice cream we also decided to get a Woffle, which have had my interest for sometime now! Is it just me, or does the word Woffle bring about bewilderment to the mind. Its convincingly an inverted alias of the familiar dough, but it is captivating none-the-less. The woffle was crispy and light, and the best way to eat this pairing was to break off a piece of Woffle, scoop up the ice cream, and pop it in your mouth one by one.
A very delightful change to the standard scooped style ice cream. Just know that you'll be paying labour costs on this ice cream, which makes it feel not so budget friendly.
Pros:
- Creamier than ice cream
- higher resistance to melting
- Flavors
- Watch it get made!
