BBQ has a distinct way of delivering us such pleasure. The preparation of the food is as enticing as the food is salivating. The smoky aroma that comes from the variety of woods used to slow smoke items, the sight of meat falling of the bone is a presentation of perfection, and the taste of it is unlike any other. One of the best things about BBQ, is that it is not fast. It’s slow in its preparation and complex in its profile. Such a collection of spices and flavors goes into BBQ, which is why the product can become so personalised with a few additions or changes to a standard recipe. So much room for diversity and personality all while still delivering that classic BBQ flavor. It’s one of the best things to look for in different BBQ joints, the flavor profiles that are subtle while at the same time being profound. Memphis BBQ takes considerable pride in their product bringing you love on a plate and sharing their passion and history with fresh home-styled BBQ.

I always respect a restaurant that is true to delivering fresh food and keeping things authentic in the kitchen. Homemade sauces and broths and local vendors supplying their protein delivers a statement that you can expect freshness and quality in whatever you are ordering. I suppose this is what makes Memphis BBQ so different and why they uphold Award Winning BBQ.

When you think of BBQ, you’re probably thinking of either Ribs or Pulled Pork. The edible images of BBQ. If a place is known for banging out some bomb BBQ than you can expect that these two items are going to represent them well. I order up a full rack of Baby Back Ribs, while the rest of the crew orders the Slider Combo and the Pulled Pork. The slider Combo offering the best of their award-winning BBQ giving you Pulled Pork, Brisket and their famously known Nirvana Moo Hamburger. Lots of signature BBQ items were ordered, and the only complimentary things to do were to pair them with some southern comfort sides. Mac N Cheese. Coney Chilli and a Buttermilk Biscuit.

The ribs were by far my favourite thing I had. Fork tender. Enough integrity to hold onto the bone, but tiles off as soon as you sink your teeth in. Sweet and smoky ribs and not overly sauces too. Lots of the flavor coming from the actual meat itself and their house-made sauce bringing it all together. The Mac N Cheese was like no other I have had. It had so much cheese it was nearly a soup. The noodles were suffocating in the amount of cheese there was and there was definitely a Béchamel component of sorts in it too. You could only eat this with a spoon and you better believe I dunked my biscuit in there! The biscuit was buttery and flaky. To be honest I’m not the biggest fan of biscuits, but this was probably one of the better ones I’ve had so far.

Onto the sliders! Again, I think this is one of the best items on the menu for someone who wants to try the most of what a location has to offer. I do enjoy myself some pulled pork, but I do feel that people exaggerate their reactions when they eat it. Lots of times the meat is dry, and flavors are under toned. I'm just a picky boy when it comes to Pulled Pork, but I can still appreciate good quality in in a product when I taste it. It had very good chew and texture, and as a sandwich was a lot better than as it was alone. The Nirvana burger also didn’t shine as much I was hoping it too. I think a house made burger would be enjoyed much more if the patty was adult sized and not fun sized. I don't feel it did justice to the labour and efforts that go into a house speciality. I also didn’t seem to be in Samara liberation after eating it, but maybe Nirvana would have been meet if I had a bigger sandwich of it. The Beef Brisket was probably my favourite of the three sliders. It was tender and flavorful, but also very simple in its execution (Which makes goo Brisket IMO). If anything I’d say their ribs delivered the feeling most of complete satisfaction.

The feast was over and I was done. I raised up my sauce blotted napkin as a white flag and felt the food coma begin to consume me. The crawl had no chance at continuing after this meat frenzy. I had done the damage and it was time to let my body rest and digest all this delicious punishment. Memphis BBQ was the perfect way to end the crawl; I didn't even feel the need for dessert after. But such a home-style experience at their restraint with locally accessed products and home-crafted recipes.

Although the ribs were incredible and I have great respect to the quality of ingredients and work that goes into all of their food, some of the other items including the sides didn't hit home for me. The mac and cheese was nearly blended together, and some of the slider meats were under toned. 4/5 stars.
