"There are many new restaurant and fast food joints opening here in Toronto so I’m always indecisive on what place I should try next. I came across two rotisserie places on social media one being Flock, and the other called The Chickery. Due to convenience, myself and my mum opted to try The Chickery and was excited since it was something slightly different that I would be trying out. The place has a couple of locations around Toronto but we ended up heading to the Spadina Ave location which is around Queen Street, it wasn’t so hard to find even though it wasn’t located on the main road but on a slight alley way.
It was quiet when we arrived which made me a bit happy since I could relax, indulge and analyze the food peacefully. The interior of the place had a slight fast food feel to it but nonetheless it was acceptable for the type of food it served.
Onto the good part. The food.

The Chickery is centered around serving rotisserie chicken both grilled and fried, chicken tenders and some sandwiches. I felt slightly overwhelmed on what I wanted to order since there were many choices. Both my mum and I ended up going for the quarter rotisserie chicken with French fries, and for myself the mashed potatoes. We also both ordered some jalapeno cornbread. Only thing that I would say is different from a regular fast food place is that once you order the food it comes to you instead of you picking it up at the counter. The exterior of the chicken was browned and dusted with spices which again, is different than your average rotisserie chicken that you would get from the grocery store. First bite into the chicken showed nothing other than the meat being moist and not oily at all which made me happy as I can not stand oily chicken. The mashed potatoes on the other hand I expected to be pretty average but boy was I wrong, they were creamy, soft and not overly salty. Lastly, the cornbread I had was also too good, it had a subtle yet not overwhelming taste of jalapeno and the cornbread itself was moist and soft.
I most definitely will be coming back to try out The Chickery again but this next time I would probably get the pulled chicken sandwich."
